Drawing Setup

Use this function to create new drawing setup and edit existing user defined drawing setups. A 'Selection Set' and its 'Drawing Rule' defines a drawing setup.

  • The selection set and drawing rule for each drawing setup are stored in text files.
  • These text files are recognized by the terrain model viewer by their file extension 'NRT' and displayed in the pull down (of terrain model viewer and the dialog box 'Drawing Setup' of this function).
  • Terrain model viewer will scan for the drawing setup files (NRT) in the following locations:
    • Pre-defined drawing setups (read only): <Local Drive>:\Program Files\ViaNova\Novapoint\<Release Version>\DTM\Drawings\<Current Installation>:
    • User-defined drawing setups: <Local Drive>:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\ViaNova\Novapoint\<Release Version>\<Current Installation>\DTM\Drawings:
  • Point Name Option: This function is used to draw point number information on survey data files containing point number information (such as KOF files). Point name is now an option under drawing rules set up, point and text.
  • The function can be activated from the following locations:
    • Toolbar icon 'Drawing Setup'.
    • Menu bar option 'Drawing Setup'.

The dialog box 'Drawing Setup' will pop up. The dialog box is a floating window, which allows the user to keep the dialog active while doing other operations in the viewer.

Choose a desired 'Drawing Setup' from the drop down list, and it's content will be displayed in the lower section of the dialog. The name of user-defined setup can be changed, simply by editing the name directly at the pull down field.

  • New: This function creates a new 'Drawing Setup'. Select any of the existing 'Drawing Setups' as a template, or select <empty drawing setup> to start with an empty template.
  • Delete: This function will delete the active 'Drawing Setup' with a confirmation question. Pre-defined drawing setups cannot be deleted.

Selection

  • Column sorting: By clicking the header columns, the list will sort accordingly.
  • Drawing Rule #: Displays an icon when a selection has a defined drawing rule attached to it.
  • Name: Displays a describing text from the selection set.
  • Draw Order: Displays the sequence (priority) in which drawing rules are applied. This is valid for overlapping objects and objects that have several drawing rules attached. The sequence can be modified by first sorting this column and then 'drag' the drawing rule to the required area.
  • Object count: The rightmost column displays the number of objects visible in the window display.
  • Double Click: Double clicking a row will activate the 'Drawing Rule' dialog box for the active (highlighted) selection set.

Pre-defined drawing setups cannot be edited and thus the edit option will be disabled for pre-defined drawing setups.

For further details refer the topics, 'Drawing Rule', 'Selection Set', and 'Technical Information - Drawing Rule'.

Drag and Drop

The application supports 'Drag and Drop' - e.g. if a drawing setup is received by mail, drag it from the mailbox and drop it in the viewer.

Standard definition for objects without drawing rule

This option gives the opportunity to define a standard drawing rule, which is applied to all feature codes lacking customized drawing rules.

  • When this option is on the drawing area will always reflect which feature code is active in the terrain model.
  • When this option is off only feature codes with customized drawing rules are displayed in the drawing area.
