How do I select the facade itself when I try to place a calculation point in front of a facade?

When you want to manually place a calculation point in front of a facade, you need to be able to select the facade itself. If the building is already attached to a calculation point, it will be filled with SOLID objects. When you try to select a facade, the SOLID object will be highlighted, because it is created later in the drawing history than the building's surrounding line.

There are two ways to solve this problem:

Selecting the line directly with AutoCAD functionality

AutoCAD has functionality to handle this situation. In AutoCAD 2007 it is done as follows:

MOUS_ICO When you are asked to select a facade: move the mouse so that the edge of the wanted facade is inside the selection box. A SOLID object inside the building will be highlighted.
KEYB_ICO Hold down <Shift> while pressing <Space> once. The building line will be highlighted instead. If there are more objects inside the selection box, each time you press <Shift>+<Space> the next object within the selection box will be highlighted. Continue until the correct line is selected.
MOUS_ICO Press the left mouse button and the now highlighted object is selected.
Note that Autodesk has changed this functionality throughout it's version history and might do so again. Enter “Help” and search for “Selecting objects”, “Close together” to find a description for your version of AutoCAD!

Turn off filled areas for buildings

By turning off Fill area for buildings, no SOLID objects will show within building lines. This is the best procedure if you want to select several facades.

First:

MOUS_ICO Menu: Noise > Roads and railroads > Display

or

MOUS_ICO Menu: Noise > Style > Style…
MOUS_ICO Set Object type to Buildings with attached points or Buildings w/o attached points.

or

nco: Choose a building (defined in Novapoint Noise)
MOUS_ICO Popup menu: Style…

then:

MOUS_ICO Turn off the selection of Fill area
MOUS_ICO Press OK.

Reset Fill area when you are finished defining calculation points, if wanted.
