Global settings

MOUS_ICO Menu: Noise > Global settings…

The settings in this dialog box apply in general, and are not linked to any specific Novapoint Noise object.

Most settings in Novapoint Noise are stored within each drawing. This applies to colour settings, text at calculation points etc. It is recommended to study the section on template drawings in your AutoCAD-manual. Use this feature to establish your desired default settings for all new drawings in Novapoint Noise.

Calculation Points

Default height above ground
The default value for a calculation points height above ground level (in m). The initial value set by Novapoint is 2.0m.

Distance from facade
The distance from a facade to a calculation point used when creating noise levels in front of buildings. The default value is 0,5 m according to the Nordic Calculation Method of 1996, but this may vary for other calculation methods. If the value is changed, a control question will appear when exiting the dialog with OK. By answering Yes to the question, all calculation points connected to a building with the existing value for Distance from facade will be changed and moved according to the new value. Calculation points not connected to a building must be moved manually.

Calculation

Height difference in profile >
The value used to display a warning if the height difference between two subsequent points in a terrain profile exceeds the given value. The initial value set by Novapoint is 2.0m. The purpose with a warning is to verify and check for unintentional data in a terrain profile not representing the ground surface, e.g. telephone line etc.

A correct terrain surface is essential to correct noise calculation. If warnings are given, it is recommended to identify the source of the warnings before increasing the value!

Calculation width
The value determines how far beyond the given profile width the terrain calculation routine shall search for terrain data.

Noise contours and coloured areas

Set drawing order for coloured surfaces to bottom
This setting determines how to handle the drawing order of coloured surfaces. Always will draw the surfaces to the bottom of the drawing, Never will draw the surfaces to the top, while Ask will prompt the user each time.

Show profile

Use VisProf (Windows-program) to show terrain profiles
This setting determines how to display terrain profiles generated with the function Check profile. The setting Always will use the Windows-program VisProf to display terrain profiles, the setting Never will draw the terrain profiles to AutoCAD, while the setting Ask will prompt the user each time.
