Project Explorer
The project explorer is the most important item within Novapoint Survey environment. It hosts the complete survey project and might contain the following information, ordered in specific branches. There can be one or more networks. Each network hosts one or multiple setups and each setup might be composed of backsights, foresights and observations. This data is especially available when angles and distances were measured in the field. If the fieldbooks contain coordinates, or if there were observations versus detailpoints, there will also be a branch that hosts the points. Points are subdivided in stations (points occupied during setup) and detailpoints. Here you will find the coordinates for the points. Points might exists as a single point or need to be combined into linear geometries: that are the features. Features are ordered based on their feature code used in the field. This means that all buildings, light poles or traffic signs can be easily found together in a single subbranch.

Project Explorer BASIC or ADVANCED view
The Project Explorer has 2 representations available. The BASIC representation does not show the fully nested version of the project explorer but is limited to the upper level. This is done since all data changes in the main window need to be reflected in the project explorer. To gain speed, the user can decide to show less detail. The ADVANCED view, shows all details up to the deepest level available. Choosing between basic and advanced view can be done in the upper right corner of the project explorer area. You click on view and choose between basic or advanced.
Project Explorer RIGHTCLICK menu
Different actions can be started from within the Project Explorer by right-clicking on the specific node. Depending on the node that gets right-clicked the following options might be available:
- Edit/View : Shows detailed information about the selected node element in the main data window area. In the main data area, there will be information panes, where the data can be analyzed or modified. If this action is selected on the network level, a topological preview of the network will be created. That way the user can easily check how his network elements are interconnected.
- Validation : validates the choosen node for possible errors. If validation errors or warnings are found, they will get displayed in the error/warning pane. You can get a list of possible validation errors and how to fix them by clicking on the validate link.
- Compute : (only avaiable on the network node level) Choose this command if you would like to calculate the network and transform angles/distances into coordinates. Depending on the choosen adjustment method, the results will be adjusted or calculated locally. If adjustment has been activated, all details about the adjustment can be found under the adjustment node
- Add : to add an element of the same type as the choosen node
- Delete : to delete the selected node
- Rename : to rename the selected node
