Introduction

Novapoint Water & Sewer is an AutoCAD application for planning and design of water and sewer systems. The program creates plan and longituinal profile drawings for pipe traces, cross sections, manhole sketches, quantity calculations and stake out data.

The program consists of two parts, one configuration part and one construction part.

This function is used for the following operations:

• Register the Water and Sewer objects such as pipes, manholes, materials, valves, hydrants, connections, etc., that shall be used in the Water and Sewer Project.
• To define/edit the relation among the registered objects such as the following:
• Among various materials available (registered materials and built-in materials), which material is to be used for different pipe types such as water supply pipe, storm water pipe, sewage pipe, etc., relations are to be defined.
• Among various materials available, which material is to be used for different manholes such as, sewage manhole, storm water manhole, etc., relations are to be defined.
• To define/edit the various connections among the registered objects such as pipe-pipe connection, pipe-manhole connection, etc.
• To configure the drawing setup of various objects in plan and profile window.
• To select the cross-section of the trench among various pre-defined and user-defined cross-sections. The selected cross-section will be the active cross-section.
• To configure the trench cross-section concerning position of pipes in the trench, protection layer, standard depth, gradient, rock shelf width, side slopes, distance sideways, etc.
• To define the trench foundation.

Novapoint Water and Sewage distinguish clearly between designing in plan, designing in profile, and presentation (generating plan and profile drawing). This will also reflect in the menus as design and drawing functions are having their own menus. All the new design and editing will take place from the dialog box 'NP WS Construction'. The drawings will be generated with separate choices for the drawing generation functions.

The whole WS Project is saved in a base file that is attached to the project through project settings in Novapoint. The active WS project may be saved as 'Current Project' at any instant, during the project work. When the module WS is started again for continuing the project work or the function 'Start Construction' is restarted, to open the project that is saved as 'Current Project', run the function 'Start Construction', and use the menu 'Open Current Project'.

In Novapoint Water and Sewage the WS project is designed in plan and profile at the same time, and there is a complete connection between plan and profile. Practically this means that all changes that have been made in plan are updated in profile automatically, and vice versa. During the design, the screen will be having both plan and profile view files tiled horizontally. This makes it much easier to work, as all the changes in both 'Plan' and 'Longitudinal Profile' view can be viewed simultaneously.
