Design Ship Dimensions
Function is used to input design vessel dimensions for the channel project. Dimension values will be used for following purposes:
- Analyzing channel geometry minimum values
- Calculating and drawing channel widening and turn configuration
- Calculating squat predictions
Menu: Waterway Design Ship Dimensions
Toolbar: Waterway Design Ship Dimensions
Note: Design Ship Dimensions must be set in order to run Draw Channel- function. Design ship values are saved to ini-file under active Novapoint project folder.
Dialog “Waterway - Design Ship Dimensions” (shown below) will appear.
Default values shows Panamax-class vessel maximum dimensions.
Manually specify the desired values. Channel width may be defined two ways:
- Width is calculated by multiplying ship width B by user specified factor (Multiple. Factor). Application shows calculated width in the dialog.
- Standard width value is used
To use standard width, mark the check box 'Use width' in the dialog and manually specify the channel width.
Note: Length L = Length between perpendiculars.
